infused water with orange lemon

Hello everyone, this Infused Water with Orange, Lemon, Basil & Mint recipe might interest different types of people. Some of you might be looking for an alternative to “plain” water. Some of you on the contrary are looking for an alternative to traditional juices. And some of you might be wondering how to stop drinking things from plastic bottles and how to transform your tap water into something more interesting.

Since a few months, our house became a plastic-bottle-free-zone. Except for our guests of course, who are free to bring them home if they want to 😉 . Emptying our fridge from plastic bottles has made us think of alternatives to the things we used to drink. First of all: water. Once we started drinking infused waters, we also realized that juices did not taste the same way as they used to. Somehow they became too sweet, too “intense”. And you know the best part? Since we started making infused waters, everyday there is full bottle back home. And if you are imagining that this is too much work, you are wrong. It takes me literally 3 minutes to get it ready.

I would suggest you to start making your life simpler with a jug that will allow you to create infused waters and iced teas without having those little pieces of tea or leaves getting into your glass. I use a Bodum Ice Tea Jug  to make mine. Then, buy every week some oranges and lemons and have in the freezer a few leaves of basil & mint and you will have plenty of infused waters to offer your guests!

Instructions
  1. Start by cleaning the orange, lemon, the basil and mint leaves under running water.
  2. Cut the orange in half and cut the half in 3 or 4 slices. Do the same with the lemon.
  3. Put the slices in a jug and add the basil & mint. When you put them in the jug, squeeze them so that the juice from the fruits and the flavor from the leaves get more concentrated into the jug.
  4. Fill the jug with water and put it in the fridge until cold. Ready to serve!
